Chancellor to deliver Autumn Statement in December
Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, confirmed via Twitter late last week that he will be delivering his Autumn Statement on Wednesday, 4th December.
The Autumn Statement is regarded as the second most significant event of the parliamentary year, after the Budget. It provides an update on the government’s plans for the economy based on the latest forecasts from the Office for Budget Responsibility. Those forecasts are published alongside the Autumn Statement.
In the week following the Autumn Statement, referred to as ‘Legislation Day’, draft Finance Bill clauses will be announced, which will provide an outline of next year’s Budget.
